RL-P12, DD8, RE8, 12EDKv.44. have em all. which for HT

Right now i got a RE8 off a 120 plate amp for HT. I really wanst sure which box would fit an HT setup. SO a 1 cu ft tuned to 24 is what i went with over the 0.4 cubes sealed.

I know some will say build a TL... but not this month.

I also have a DD1008, EDK v.44, and a RLP12.

I plan on running all of these for HT. Pick on and give a reason!

Also let me know the volume of the enclosure you would pick for which ever one you choose.

how is that RE8 for home theater? I am thinking of picking one up soon and about a 250 watt plate amp.

250 rms is a bit too much for an RE 8 for HT. I think 200 rms is more than enough. remember its not all about wattage? I run it off 124 rms and it reaches xmax. fine tune my freind

Well, it depends on the size of your room( environment).

I made sure this went is a fairly small room. Off the sealed it was excellent. Dont expect to get lows, but the re 8 will out do most tens out there.

The DD1008 however is overall a better sub i think. If its power handling you're are asking for than its a great 8incher. I ran 500 rms to the DD1008 free air today and it took it like a champ. No smell, no damage. The DD1008 will take 450 rms daily. But again, power is very flexible in HT as i have learned. dont let numbers mis-lead you.

The fr125S 4.5 inch drivers reach exmax at about 30 rms. I tell you these thing get louder than a single idq 8. And off 1/3 of the power.

If i were you i would get 2 re 8's for HT if on a budget.

I had a whole response written out to this. I guess it didn't post.

Anyways, the 250 watt plate amp does that power at 4 ohms. Does 150 @ 8 ohms which is what I plan to run the sub at (DVC 4 ohm), although I suppose that 124 watt amp would be just as good.

As for getting low, I don't think I really care that much. I just want a little bit of bass to add to my setup. I'm not a major bass head, but want something to complement the setup in that respect. Looking at doing a sealed box for an 8" sub and am really contemplating this sub, simply for it's price.
