River Oaks CS/Eddie Runner

I know posted this when installer.com no longer went to Eddie's site, but it looks like Eddie Runner lost his lease and River Oaks Car Stereo is no more. Eddie was one the OG's and great guy. His installer website and tech pages were a great resource. Eddie's probably most famous for doing the testing to prove (in the majority of cases), placing the subwoofer at the rear of the car aiming toward the rear produces the most bass (or least amount cancellation to be more accurate). Sad to see Eddie's shop had to close.

It sounds like Eddie contributed much to the community. If you have any specific questions about car audio or installation techniques, feel free to ask!

There's so much lost knowledge these days, and as cars get next to impossible to do fun things with there's less interest in making a mirror shake 😢

ok, we couldn't get it in standing up lmao, its firing toward the roof. Gona try taking out the spare tire cover and try again
I had my sql-15's firing up in my saturn...I thoughts it sounded better after trying forward and rear facing 😂 what sounds good to you is really all that matters in the end

Depends. Sometimes rear firing can create a bass trap. This is why I miss Eddie's tutorial on aiming your sub - it's better to understand the concept in it's entirety. Up or down firing can accomplish the same thing.

I think a lot of people overthink things...lord knows I'm guilty of it 😂

Not that most don't know about it, but the internet archive / wayback machine sometimes has old sites that you can still grab info from. A lot of times links are dead and such, but never hurts to try if looking for info or want to browse for nostalgia. And might be good to harvest any info before a server that has it archived stops working or something. Might be able to go back to different years to grab other stuff, not sure.

Anyway, here's a link to his site which still has quite a bit on it:

And the tech pages:

He did have a bit of text at the bottom before the site went away that he wanted to retire and the domain was for sale.
