ridiculous spoilers(oops, i mean "wings")

Originally posted by tommyk90 lol!! Man, did you get those new edition NOS stickers? I heard there are an easy 25 hp at the wheels!
I'm awaiting to have them installed by a special Honda technitian...the placement of the stickers is key...And you see the visor on the rear view mirror? That gave me over 50 hp, and shaved almost a second of my 1/4 mile time, now I run the 1/4 in a little over 23 seconds, hopefully after NOS stickers and Type-R seatpads, I'll be running low 22's...

Ever realized how expensive this **** is too? I was watching some ricer show(don't know why, must've smoked too much crack that day) and they spent $390 on a Stillen muffler, installed it themselves(so now they decide to get cheap) and got a 2.8 hp increase out of it. Give me a fukking break.

yup you are right. spoilers give you downforce at high speeds especially with less aerodynamic capabilities. As for the wing type of spoilers, they **** they are just a flash better use it to hang clothes. I have a spoiler though but its just a LIP spoiler nothing flashy just to serve the purpose giving DOWNWARD FORCE to stabilize car at high speed.

my car setup may be considered a ricer but h3ll, its not for flashy reasons its for the racing reasons. but then the money that i got to buy those things are winnings from my previous races. i guess its worth it.

A RICER OR NOT >>>> LISAA goes ZZZZZZOOOOMMMMMMMM.

BTW, the pictures posted first the integra. that spoiler wont give you downforce. that kind creates drag CLOTHES HANGER. the acura aporons are PITYFUL. ADDing those thing below the stock aprons? hahahaha that looks stupid - visually deteriorating and wont serve any purpose. why have one custom made to fit the whole front aprons not attach one to look the stock better? - that *****.

anyway, i may be a hippocrite in saying these things but h3ll, i dont over do my setup for the heck of empasizing that i have spoilers, front and back aprons and all that.

BTW, MUFFLERS really add to your HP about 5-10 depends on the kind. the one that you attach on the stock mufflers to make a 1.0" tol look like a 2.5 and make sounds are LAME.

but thats just me>>> LISAA GOES ZZZZZZZZZOOOOOMMMMMMM

btw, its nice to see fellows who brag about their car setup and a lady beats thier asses to dust.hahahhaha!

Why spend $350 on a muffle then install it yourself? Why not just go ahead and spend a lil more and have someone that knows for sure what they are doing and maybe get a lil more out of it? And is what 2.8 hp really worth $350 ? Sure as hel| isnt to me.. Besides why not save all that money you spend on those stupid ricers and get a fast car?

Factory style wings are fine, and I don't even mind the 12" gaudy looking aluminum ones if they're on a rear wheel drive car that actually has a chance to make use of it (100+mph). It's seeing the idiots with a civic or a neon that has front wheel drive who think a huge indy style wing makes them look cool that makes me want to pull them out of thier car and smack them around.

Newsflash for people with FWD 4 cylinders. Huge aftermarket wings do 3 things for you.

1. Add weight

2. Add air resistance

3. Display your abundant automotive ignorance.

There's a guy in the city where I live -- he drives a mid 80's grand am (fwd). He has a HUGE metal wing and dual 3" exhaust (tips). Every time I see that car it makes me want to fight. LOL

We got a guy here with a beretta that he put a 4" cannon on. Claims all the way engine to muffeler 4".......why am I thinking ********!!! Gonna go get ricer pix soon. Rice nytes start when weather gets warmer so...........

J

There's some moron in my hometown that put a 2 foot high spoiler on the back of a 1993 cavalier. To top it off the spoiler is silver and the car is (lime)green.

The car looks like sh1t, the driver IS sh1t, and he's sh1tting on the best brand of vehicle.

You should all take a trip to Long Island and join me on a friday night in DPA(deer park avenue), on a good friday night, thousands of people come out, about 50-60% ricers, 30% american muscle, and the other 10-20% cars/trucks done right...with nice systems...it's fun to laugh at the little ricers though.

Race, you say? Great to see a fellor racer. I don't know about you, but I was just in amateur leagues for a bit.

Erm, yes, spoilers for the track, I understand...

How many of these "wings" are adjustable? How many have they gone through wind tunnel testing? How many cars can take a corner at 70MPH, when spoilers really start working?

A diffuser I'd say is similar, but I doubt any ricer would put those, as people can't see them outright.

Ever seen a Mclaren F1 wing? It's puny compared to what those integras have.

Anyone can drill and fit a spoiler, but it's an art to adjust it.

Ricers drag racing traffic light to traffic light, I'd say the one without the fancy crap will win. Let them drive on track and see in real life how civics fly high into the sky~

Anyways, my friends say, "Spoilers improve gas milage." I'm like, "How ?" They usually respond with "It just does." or, if they're in a bad mood, "**** off." Either that or they make up some ******** statement that is so ****ing unbelievable that I have to not only laugh at them but point and laugh at and ridicule them for as long as possible ... It's quite sad, really. None of my friends passed Physics 11, yet they think they know more about Physics than I do ...
Well, Jmac, in the coveted Book of Rice, written by Honda technitians, it clearly states that big wings and large fart mufflers= + gas mileage, a 10x increase in hp, and a 5x increase in torque...

That would be the racing version..

the road-going version has a small bootlip spoiler that only rises after a set speed, and lifts more for hard braking...

Taken from Lisaa's sig.corolla s type with stage 2 TRD.

TRD mufflers

TRD modified cool air intakes

TRD lip spoilers

side skirts

ducaro seats

Spoon roll bars

and lowered 2 inches with White 18" TRD rims

- 0-60 in something ( NOT EVALUATED ) but running 280HP tops

tried it 140-160 TOP SPEED!
Lisaa -- I'm going to assume you know the corolla S is 130hp stock. Do you have any idea what it would take to get 280hp from a car like that?? Any at all?? Actually, I don't know if it would be possible. At minimum it would take a monster turbo charger and the world's best intercooler, probably a bigger cam, and certainly some helacious porting or an altogether custom head. Not to mention, you'd be smoking tires in every gear up to probably 80mph. From what I've read your fancy stage 2 TRD package consist of body moldings and minor suspension mods. IF You were making anything even approaching 280 you'd probably need some kind of forged high strength axles to keep from twisting them. You can't just throw out a number like 280hp and have nothing of substance to back it up, and not expect someone to raise the B.S. flag. Saying it'll go 140-160 doesn't add up either. I have a 210hp/250lb-ft turbo 4 cyl that does right about 150, and it weighs 3,400 lbs!! Your 280HP //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif 2,500 lb car ought to be doing 180 or more and running in the 12's.

I wish I knew the link for the little dude waving the bs flag.

There are 2 mods in your sig that would have a chance of unleashing a few more horses from your mighty 130hp powerplant.

Muffler - 5 HP TOPS -

Cold air intake - Again 5, possibly 10 hp

At the absolute maximum you could be making 145hp. Which is fine in a 2500lb car, you might be able to get to 140mph, and you might beat a few cars stoplight to stoplight, but PLEASE, don't go making a fool of yourself telling people you've got 280 horse in your corolla.

(unless of course you forgot to mention you swapped out the 1.8 for a boosted supra 6 cyl)
