Resin heating up... ...and a teaser pic of my fiberglass project

Well I noticed when I was glassing today I placed my hand on the recently dried work that it was heating up insanely. Did i use a bit much catalyst? I know it said like 7cc's per quart and thats what i put in. It was to the point of where when it was hardening it was burning my hand. So i sicked my leaf blower on it for about 10 minutes and no more heat. ?? answers please!

Wow that looks like quite the enclosure. I'd say you had too much catalyst, I've found that those recommended ammounts are rarely correct.

I actually like to use a little more catalyst on smaller projects, that way the drying time will decrease. but dont worry about the heat it will be fine.

hmmm could be the area glass meets the foil as well. Maybe the foil was keeping the heat in!? no diea all i know is that my leaf blower did the job and there are no cracks thank god. I heard that if you used too much catalyst the resin will dry up and literally crack. Hopefully i cooled it in time so it wouldn't.

That heat is normal. Don't worry about it. It is just the chemical reaction of the 2 parts. I usually add a small amount extra MEKP also. Just don't touch it while it is hot. hey when i did my fiberglass box my fleece was smoking so that little heat is no biggie!!!

its a mixture of fiberglass RESIN and u use fiberglass MAT or CLOTHE basically....
