Hello, first of all I would like to introduce myself name's Ricardo, 21 years old. I live in Mexico City and I've been wanting to upgrade my cars audio system for a long time. I drive a VW Gol which is basically a brazilian Polo. The car is nice and all but the sound system is seriously cheap and I would like to get some proper SQ I think this is the right place to ask some newbish questions before I start my build thread. I googled A LOT and found very useful info here so I decided to sign up. My car currently has a single din head unit, two 6.5" speakers mounted low in the doors, 2 tweeters inside A pillars and two 4" speakers in the back right next to C pillars (its a hatchback). I would like to know what do you guys think of my planned setup for my car and get some orientation as to whats best for my needs because the current aftermarket offerings are overwhelming, yet I'm sure 70% of it is rubbish I would be willing to spend big amounts of money on this but I don't have them. So I decided instead of buying all at once I'll do my install one/two things at a time -Part 1: Replace front speakers. I am considering Focal speakers, which I can find in Mexico (maybe even get the tweeters and replace everything right away). Only thing is I am not sure which model exactly to go for. I'll begin ASAP with this, just need to find the right speakers and I'll get them. -Part 2: Replace head unit with something iPod/iPhone ready, as it is my main source of music. I'm considering Pioneer MVH series, but due to it being full of colors and media options, my gut tells me it may be lacking in the SQ department -Part 3: Install amplifier for speakers. I'm still very uninformed about which to buy so I'll keep informing myself before saying something stupid and update later. -Part 4: Install woofer and its respective mono amp. I'm still debating between underseat or trunk mount woofer. The internet says trunk mount is better. -Last I will install rear coaxials for the passengers, as I plan on sending everything except bass to the front. I can get right now a deal on two Rainbow SL130 coaxial speakers for about 130 USD (1,500 mexican pesos) so this could become part 1. The seller says he has 6 pairs, he bought them back in 2000 and cant sell them yet, but they are new. Any thoughts on this? Were talking about 14 yo speakers but it's also a pair of Rainbows for 130 bucks. I've heard lots of good things about rainbow. I will check here on the forums about soundproofing my car, I dont know if I should do that first or last, and replacing wiring, which I guess should be done whit every new thing I add. I listen to metal (mainly thrash), gangsta rap, grunge and 60's to 70's rock. I'm also starting to like electronic music so I think I'll need a versatile system that can adapt to different kinds of music. Lots of thanks in advance, as I said before I'll start a build thread when I buy Part 1 or the rear coaxials
