i have a sub with ripped fabric which connects to the cone on the magnet side of the sub, it makes a rattling noise when its going.. i were thinkin i could join together with silicon or super glue, what ar ur guys ideas is it worth doing that or is da sub useless.. it is a pretty decent sub and is fine other than this problem. thankz.

****green line on the picture is where the material is wripped

When that happens its usually time for a recone.

The spider and neck of the subwoofer is bonded using an expensive "superglue" substance called cyanoacrylate (C5H5NO2, for you chemistry buffs) this in conjunction with an accelerant creates a very strong bond.

What is cyanoacrylate?

Cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin that cures (forms its strongest bond) almost instantly. The only trigger it requires is the hydroxyl ions in water, which is convenient since virtually any object you might wish to glue will have at least trace amounts of water on its surface.

If you could find a syringe type applicator you could attempt to glue the two pieces together with regular super glue but it will never be as strong as it was in the first place and will most likely fail again.

For more info on cyanoacrylates look here- http://www.palmlabsadhesives.com/

One bit of good news is that a recone costs only a fraction of the woofers original price.

yea i think i'll try that then.. gluing up with super glu and then see how long it lasts -then try for a recone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thankz for that then.
