Receiver fan turns on but not receiver

I just installed a clarion in dash dvd player. When I push the power button the fan starts to spin like it will turn on but then it quits and the power still hasn't turned on. The wireing, as far as I can tell, is completey correct. Does anyone have any clue what could be wrong??

Is it possible that I could have blown something internaly?? Say I mistakenly hooked the power up before the ground, which I very well may have. Would that have caused something like this to happen???

Hooking the power wire up before the ground shouldnt affect it...

Isnt there a special wire that has to be hooked to the parking brake in order for it to work?

Ok I did miss that, and the illumination wire. I have both hooked up now but am still having problems. The buttons light up and you can insert a cd but the display doesn't say anything. Any suggestions??
