Just wanna see where I'm at by the looks of this coil on a hds315 - not my expertise but heard talk about judging the physical condition of voice coils.. Been on the hot cone level lately but I've improved.
its still shiny and the coil looks to be intact. as long as its not loose looking or black or fryed should be good. are you having an issue? or are you worried that it ay have gotten to hot?
I just got out of a clipping problem due to my amp setup (dual amps - 2x kicker cx1200.1s) on 2 subs. Mainly being underpowered with deadly mix of mismatched gains for about a little under few weeks. I've gotten them stinky more then a few times on but ceased the volume each time I noticed the bad clipping. Now, since I've got the gains set almost perfect , the only thing that's goes thru my mind is "did I damage my subs at all?" So I keep testing them with dmm: 2.3ohms-2.4ohms. When I play music I play loud/ just below HU clipping level! But am totally responsible with my controls 100% on every track I play.
But yeah, I lost sleep thinking if I'd gotten too hot! Lol whatever too HOT is..?!...WARM-HOTTY CONE HELL YEAH!
*Found a pic I took of one sub on FedEx delivery day.[emoji33]
