Real world opinions of the 'Chinese/Korean' DVD/GPS etc

I am surprised there are almost no reviews for the "Chinese/Korean" DVD/GPS/Bluetooth/TV/Backup cam etc etc products...

There seem to be two separate camps... The EONON "spammers" who speak very little English, but claim the products are great - and the uninformed who immediately dismiss the products as 'crap'.

In the market, there are gobs of similar products (I single out EONON because they are the only manufacturer I can find with a "name"). There is also a newer line (non-Eonon) with 800x480 screen resolution...

Does anyone have *real* (not anecdotal) experience with the *newer* lines of these all in one 2 din boxes? I know you can buy Kenwood etc etc - but they do not appear to have all the features, and run 3-4 times the price (going EBAY costs are in the $300-$500 range)......

It seems one of the weak points is the mapping software - but in theory, you could even run TomTom from the SD device.....

Please no flames - just seeking real information (and not misinformation)...

i had a 1.5 din dvd player from them worked really well, had tons of features and never had one problem out of it...never even skipped!

Hmm, that enon looks interesting. The first one is way too expensive for a completely off brand double din dvd, when I can get a brand new pioneer premier f90bt for just a few bucks more.

I would say for a couple hundred bucks you cant go wrong.

Another smart informative post - well done - now go back to your community college, and work on your Mrs degree...

The OP is not about EONON directly - it is about the combined units coming from Korea and China which are laden with features that would cost $1000+ if even available in standard equipment (like 800x480 TFT)...

I personally had an eonon not too long ago and it was a huge piece of garbage.

You are correct - those are opinions. Opinions that have no background or substance. This is how I know three posters in this thread did not attend any advanced schooling (yes - include yourself in that mix), and I'm guessing one of the three has a GED... Maybe harsh - I call em as I see em...

I don't have any experience with eonon (to take that one brand) but after reading these reviews and seeing that you can get their 7" touchscreens for 150 on ebay I think i'm going to experiment and see for myself how they perform.

OK - you clearly need it spelled out. Saying something sucks is clearly information - but it lack details. Descriptive adjectives or adverbs also help - like it "really sucks"

Then there's the other tact - i'll give you an example from a seperate discussion on the Kenwood 9140 ($1300).

The sound is excellent, the Ipod works fine.

The BT sucks : frequent loss of address book.

The Nav is buggy :

No tachymeter , so the Nav is blind when you are in a tunnel.

The Nav reboots irregularly but at least every hour.

The refresh of the map is slow and shaky.

No lane assist. you have this feature on very cheap GPS.

Functionnality to load POIs does not work.

Note the description BT sucks - and an example of why.

Now to your excellent well thought out response. You mentioned they cram features in at the cost of quality - how is this? Kenwood also has many of the features.... What have they *specifically* done with these features that messes up the quality - and what are you talking about when you say quality? Sound quality, GUI quality - do you hate their MOSFETs, is there cross-talk between channels? Is the power rating misleading?

I can only assume you have no real experience - as you have not mentioned what that is, what product, or any real information. Well - I could give you the benefit of the doubt, and just assume you don't have the ability to write an articulate, well thought out review of your past experiences.

I have not mentioned that I am looking for good reviews. I am looking for real life experience with some of these products (not EONON specifically).

Look to a previous poster who sited links with real information...

Personally, EONON will not work for me because it lacks IPhone OS 3.0 compatibility (USB), has a RGB 480x230 screen (not TFT 800x480), and will not support a different GPS mapping software for its WIN CE 5.0 OS (like TomTom).
