Im trying to install a new harddrive for a friend of mine, im trying ot instal xp currently, everytime i start it up its saying "no boot device found" whats going on, it wont even read the xp cd thats in
same motherboard, he just needed a new hd, got a new one all hooked up now its doing this bullshit when im trying to instal xp again, how do i "set" it to boot from cd
Edit: i dont even get an option to boot from cd like it usualy says when the xp disc is in, i just get a "no boot device detected / found" right away
i dont get shit, just a nice blank screen saying the error i already stated, how do you get into bios, i thought it was f8 or something like that when windows was booting up, but i cant get anywhere close to there...
Most likely its the ESC key as soon as the computer turns on or f1 or f2. Should be in one of the corners of the screen. It doesn't have anything to do with windows.
No problem at all. Yeah, pulling the battery (easier to just move the jumper next to the battery) will reset but most of the time I think harddrive sets up as a default to boot.
