Re8+70w= ???

Well guys im kind of baffled here.

My friends H/U does 70W RMSx1 @ 2 ohms for a sub.

We were planing on putting his DEH-P5500MP in his moms car since he has no need for it.

Its not like you can hear the back speakers anyways (Honda CRV)

Do you all think that would be suffice for the RE8 ?

Would the enclosure have to be rather large ?

The RMS on it is 175...thats where i have my doubts.

I wouldn't run any sub off a HU, never mind giving a HU a 2ohm mono load to work with

larger speaks are too reactive, and an internal amp lacks speaker control and is typically high in distortion

And since when is all that possible w/ a hu?

I'm very skeptical about that power rating..

even if it did that power, it'd be around 10% distortion..

i got the same radio. im almost positive its only 70 peak. so i wouldnt reccomend running that sub of of 30-35 rms at best.

2006 true power will be put on things. there isnt any deck going to put out 70 rms to 1 speaker. logic should kick in and say hey my deck doesnt have a ten- eight gauge power wire.

since when can you bridge channels or draw a 2ohm load off a HU?

anywho. get a cheap ass profile 2 channel from thezeb for like $50

why not get a not-bad amp, then blowing up the deck. just use 10guage wire for the power\ground and you should be fine.

Ya know id look at ebay and see if you could pick up something older like a RF 100a2 from 98-99. The birthsheets on them were usually 150+ with all channels driven into 2 ohms. And despite rockfords wishes you can run these at 2ohm bridged. I used to run 2 500a2's at 2ohms brdged each and never had a problem with them.
