Re Sx10 In A Dodge Ram

I listen more to metal but i like some older rap, i plan on using this sub in a ported box where the middle seat used to be in the front. heres the questions

1) will this sub still be responsive when listenenig to metal?

2) is there a similar price range sub that will make me happier?

They will have good response. Make sure you build the box sealed to specs to have the tighest response posible though.

re's website doesnt show a recommended sealed enclosure, i was gonna port the box to their specs but by doing this will i lose the tighter bass, thats why im moving to a 10" hopefully to get more midrange bass, but i still want a hard hitting 10

SX's are not recommended for sealed apps and you are wrong that a sealed box will give you "tighter " response than a ported box. A properly designed ported box will do just about anything a sealed box can do and it does so more efficiently. Also, if you want more midrange bass, then you aren't going to get that from a "sub"woofer. A subwoofer is designed to play in the subbass range

also, sealed boxes do have an advantage in size and on forgiveness. Meaning they are more forgiving when it comes to space and design errors/flaws/variations. Ported apps are more sensitive to these changes and obviously take up more space.

i guess my definition of midbass is off, im talking more of the higher frequencys that a 10 can hit cleaner than a 12, ive had 12's and 10's before but never 10's in a ported box, you answered my question about a ported box, im gonna use re's specs and build the box, hopefully im happy with it, i dont know too much thats why im here, theres plenty to learn, thanks for the info
