Item(s) for Sale:

(2) 15" Memphis Mojo D2's

9.25 net cuft @ 28hz enclosure designed and built myself

Item(s) Description/Condition:

One sub is 9/10 cosmetically, the other is 7/10 (blew the plastic memphis logo piece off the cone, but there's still a small dustcap underneath it.

Mechanically, 8.5/10

They both sound great still!

Currently hooked up to my home theater //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Memphis claims 1,000wrms per sub. (riiiight...)

I ran one of these off my 20.1 @ 1 ohm.

1800 CLEAN watts with NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER. (The dustcap wasnt even warm; and no stinky burnt voice coil smell)

After I built the enclosure, I threw both of the subs in series for a 2 ohm final load on the 20.1 (900w)

I really wish that I would have got this metered.

It cracked the windshield in my friends minivan! (temp vehicle just to test the box)

The flex in the vehicle that these woofers produced was absolutely ridiculous!

Every video I posted on YouTube was off a cell phone so it picked up about 10% of the actual flex.

The box is fully braced, made 100% from Russian birch plywood (11/16th's thickness)

This plywood is laminated on one side. The laminated sides are what the subs "see" to make the box much more efficient, as well as dramatically improving the reflection of the sound waves internally.

The corners also are 45'd

DIMENSIONS:

48" wide

27" deep

24" tall

Click for a complete craigslist ad that I tried posting multiple times (which apparently had too many characters so it never showed up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rage.gif.0ad8a6e5565b5fddce406566fdd05149.gif)

So I figured these subs would be better off in a new, reputable, home.

Price:

Id rather not split these up..

But if I absolutely have to, I could do 300 + shipping each

675 local pickup in the box as is

Starting the project.

45s in the corners and a view of my 2x4 baffle method. Also the bracing in the 46" long port. (iirc)

The vertical bracing attaches to the square 2x4 baffle that each sub screws into.

Complete!

Any takers on this Mojo D2 15" before I send it in to PSI to get beef caked??

I also have the box for sale ($150) INSANELY LOW TUNING WHILE STILL SOUNDING MUSICAL = CHARLIE SHEEN!

These are BY FAR better than the newer mojos.

This is the 1st generation Mojo that Memphis ever released.

I only have one left, I sold the other last year to RNC.

PM me if you're seriously interested, these are very hard to come by nowadays.

How so?

The M3 and CM Mojo's had field-replaceable cones, which made it a lot quicker/cheaper to switch your coil impedance from build-to-build - and increased power handling over the original - and in my opinion, are far more musical than the original.

Haven't had a chance to play with the newest Mojo5 yet - but the more open basket design I believe is going to yield better output. They also feature stitched surrounds and a triple-slug motor (versus the old double-stacked).

nice looking box.
Thanks! I'm thinking about throwing in some Fi SP4 15s in it once I buy a new vehicle dedicated to car audio.

you shoulda tried them at .5!!
Trust me, I REALLY wanted to see what they would have done at .5 off the 20.1.

But, I built the box specifically for them being under-powered. (450w each sub)

Considering the 900 total watts to the pair cracked the windshield of the van, as well as breaking the rear license plate.

Yes, the METAL license plate literally cracked and eventually started falling off the vehicle.

All of this achieved on a stock alt, with the big 3 and a few deepcycle batts..

Wishin' I would have taken some more vids with a quality camera to truly capture the flex.

Simply put:

Old school > new

These subs were indeed VERY musical in that box with the port tuned @ 28hz.

And did you really just compare the M3 to a 1st gen? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

M3Mojo, yes...

In terms of sound quality - to each their own...

Hardware wise, I'd disagree with your claim the first-gen is better though

The Bert & Ernie color theme was also terribly annoying... but I digress

I know these are the best version ever, pretty much unbreakable. Bob Perillo had alot of time with these and the M basket ones and said that while the M's would win in an spl battle vs the 4 spokes, the 4 spokes would take all the power he would throw at them and just stop getting louder where as the M's would blow or lose the dustcaps (especially the bottom left on his wall of 9). I personally had two of his quad 1 ohm 15s which had either 4 or 8 spiders??? I had four Orion 2500d's on the two, each at .5 ohm. I actually just sent off a message to a buddy with two M basket 15d2s... mmmm Mojo's.
