You have Rainbow's 3rd highest offering behind the ($2500 Platinums/$7500 References) up to the 2003-2004 model year

Its a cal 25 ALK (aluminum compound/titanium) tweeter that its no longer available- it was redisigned and now used in the Power CMS set (Cal25Titan)

'Extreme series' simply is their higher powered/output capable sets via a "extreme' passive crossover.

The current CS265 Vanadiums are $719 msrp

Thats a very nice set you have there. The Pro Vanadium's ranged in the $650-$1000 range depending on 2/3way config and phase plug/kickbass options

Thanks, I got these brand new.. I know you saw them for sale too hehe. Would you recommend using that crossover or going with an active setup? I think mine are 2 way and i know for sure they are kickbass. I am only guessing because I left them at the house we will be installing at on Friday.

active or crossover? Flakko or max6spd?
Only go active if you have appropriate processing. Realize you are giving up tweeter protection and the works that those pricey passives have. I say try them passive first, they may be all you wished for in that manner. If not, go active-thats the way the local dealer had'm in his car and they were stellar.

Your vehicle location restraints will determine the response you get. Distance between tweet and mid...etc... Rainbow's literature should tell you if you separate them over a certain lengtyh that you can reverse the polarity on the tweets on the xover itself -that should provide you with a response that should fill in any 'voids' you may notice, or may not. One way to find out...

The rest of the system is 9855 built in crossover, 15" ava, ed nine.1, ed nine.4 (rated at 10.5v), etc etc.... The tweet is on the dash and the midbass of course is in the door... I would wire the crossover to the trunk if I were going passive. Is this a bad idea?
