Rainbow SLC's How to bypass the tweeter protection circuit.

The '08 Rainbow SLC's have a protection feature in the crossovers that when the tweeters reach a very loud volume level or receive a large amount of power they temporarily cut out until the volume is lowered for a few secs, then they reactivate.

Does anyone own a pair of components and have bypassed this feature? I seemed to think it may be a little over protective but then again, I dont want to blow my tweeters either.

yes, and I don't need them any louder than they get -- never had a problem. I just mention it because it makes my wonder why your set would be giving you problems.
Gains are at maybe a little between 1/3 and 1/4, set to full, I don't ever really bring my volume above 26/35, sometimes not above 23/35 on the headunit. The volume offset on the head unit is set to +3db, the EQ fourth band is set to FQ 14k, +5 gain(maybe be an issue here), no loudness on the HU or the Ipod.

They get really loud and retain the clarity. But for extremely loud songs, they will play for a few seconds at full volume and then shut off the tweets temporarily, I can lower the volume and the tweets will come back into play to the normal volume level that they were at originally.

Just wanted to throw this out there, but a while back I was running a set of Rainbow Profi Vanadium phase plug two ways with the passive crossovers, and I had the same problem that you're having. Turns out after testing the crossovers that one of the crossovers was bad.

I hope that's not the case for you, but how you describe your tweets shutting all the way off, and then coming on after a couple minutes after lowering the volume was exactly how mine were, too.

How did you test them?

I think it may just be that I have the volume gains and eq gains set a little too high but still, the protection circuit should not be working if the halogen bulb has been replaced with a silver wire jumper, or so it is told in the manual, so it may be an issue with the crossover.
