So just installed a new Pioneer HU in my girlfriends 97 audi a4. It has an amplified system built in so i had to take a couple wires and solder rca ends to them to get the speakers to work. Then all i did was get a wiring harness for the car and install it like i would with any other cd player. the only problem is every time we turn the car off all of our setting reset and the cd player goes back into demo mode and clock resets ect. maybe there is an accessory wire i needed to hook up or something? Can anyone help me out here?

my pioneer has a wire connected to the constant 12 volt wire and a switched 12 volt wire. the constant needs to be wired in order to keep memory saved. the switched 12 v turns the hu on and off when you start/ shut off the car.

x2.
Whats with this ghetto rigging speaker wire RCA bit going on?
Ghetto? well you see since the audi has a factory amplified stereo system they dont use RCAs to connect the amplifier to their stock HU they just throw the wire into a pin connector and hook it up to the factory radio that way. so when adding an after market HU you need to disconnect those wires from the pin and connect RCA ends to the wires so that they will work with the after market radio. i fail to see how its ghetto i only soldered rca ends onto the wires and covered them in heat shrink.

you have your power wires backwards
I suppose it is possible maybe the power and ignition wires are reverse colors on audis as i hooked everything up color to color as you would when buying any after market wiring harness. ill give it a shot though and see what happens.

the harness you purchased should have had a two striped 12v wires on it ....one red with yellow stripe and vice versa....german vehicles have varying constant and acc wires so you most likely did wire them backwards...
