"radio bucket"?

I'm doing(well, plan on doing) a double din install on my 01 tahoe which only has a 1.5 din slot, but apparently with an 03+ dash bezel and radio bucket its a pretty straightforward conversion. My problem is I dont know what the techinical term for the radio bucket is, can anyone help me out?

looking at a pic of an 03 tahoe, it is just a standard sized double din head unit. Certain double dins will come with a cage, others will not. If it has a cage, you can prolly secure it in place and bingo, if not just buy the dash kit for $20 and you'll be good to go.

That's what you're looking for I think... A double din dash kit

The 01's have a 1.5 din but with an 03+ bezel and the "bucket" (the piece that the dash kit and ac controls mount to) from an 03+ you can fit a double din in there and make it look factory.
