it's not just a dog..it's a life..
To me, there are only two reasons why you'd videotape an event: because you want to watch that videotape later for your own enjoyment, or you want to share that video with others in hopes of giving them enjoyment.

If you've got to kill a dog because it might give away your position (even while you're joking on camera and clearly not in any real danger), then fine.

But do it humanely; don't derive pleasure from cruelly, and needlessly, harming the animal beyond completing the task at hand.

It's all perspective.

If the dog was killed because it might "give away their position"... why would shooting dogs be the alternative?

I do believe a gunshot would be more noticeable and easily associated with enemy troops than a dog barking.

Finally, shooting the dog would be a waste of a bullet.

Hey sh!t for brains.... I'm sure the dog yelped because it got kicked, and last time I checked dogs also have an inner ear, and that pup would have felt the sensation of falling..... pretty scary sensation when you don't know where you are going.... then I wonder how long it laid dying....
