I must admit that I'm pretty new to the car audio enthusiast role. At least my current vehicle is the first one I've done extensive audio upgrades to and I have to admit that I'm stumped. I have stopped through a few local shops and gotten a variety of different responses and everyone just conveniently centers around whatever mediocre product they happen to have sitting on their limited inventory of shelves and naturally cost 8x's what I could pay for the same components online.

Here is my setup and I'm looking for some advice on what else to get and what I need to do to get the system rounded out.

Vehicle:

2003 Range Rover HSE with Factory Head Unit (bmw based system)

Current Upgrades:

JL Audio 10w7 (got killer deal used and had custom fiberglass enclosure built into the rear quarter panel). $250 sub, $300 enclosure

JL Audio 1000/1 amp. (originally had alpine mrp-m1000, but was clipping the sub pretty bad between 40-60hz on a test tone cd.... upgraded (once again awesome deal on a used product). $300.00-350 ish... I gave my mrp-m1000 plus 200....

Monster cable 4gauge min throughout.

Fosgate 2 farad digital cap.

(At this point in my upgrade, I blew the alternator..... Car will be out of the shop tomrrow morning with a new battery and alt.).

Purchased but not yet installed:

JL Audio Cleansweep main unit, and JL Audio Cleansweep SSI (was told I needed both)... Once again VERY good deals on both $85 and $44 respectively both new in box).

Now where I need advice... I didn't really mean to get ALL JL components. They just were the best priced higher end stuff I found locally. I'm not opposed to mixing it up... Just happened that way. I wanted to do the 3sixty.2 but the price wasn't comparable and with my $1000.00 alternator mishap, my budget has been decreased //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif..

What amp should I use to round out the rest of the system... I was told to go for a 4 channel. I have recieved mixed opinions as to what I should get.... if sticking with jl a 300/4? (I can get one for $200 or less).... Or what other options should I consider.. I don't feel the need to buy the "name" for jl stuff... i'm more concerned about quality.

How about speakers. I believe that the doors house 6.5" and 4" woofers/mids, and tweeters.... The only setup i've found is a 419.00 Focal setup on ebay (including crossovers).... but 2 sets of those are pretty steep.... I could perhaps justify 1 set...

At this point, I'd like to round out the last of my system (amp and speakers for the truck...) or are the factory harmon kardon's worth leaving in for the time being?

What all else do I need to buy to complete my system? What would you put in if you didn't want to break the bank and wanted to wrap it up with a decent sound quality?

Thank you so much in advance. I'd really appreciate your input as I'm just confusing myself with the more and more I read.

first thing you need to do is the big 3 unless you want another 1000 dollar bill. It really costs a grand to change out an alternator? How much was labor and parts?

the clean sweep may actually allow you to tune your factory speakers a lot better i dont really remember so you may want to have that installed first...if not then yes a 4 ch is what you will most likely be looking for. second id upgrade you power wire to 0 gauge and id also get rid of the cap and buy a smaller 12volt battery...like a kinetik hc600--800....and as far as speakers...well depending on your taste in music will really determine that choice...but the focals will prolly serve you very well. id wait for someone else to chime in as im guessing you have a 6.5" woffer, 4" woffer and tweets in the doors so they or a sq based member may be more help in that category as its a 3 way setup...well best of luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and yes the big 3 will help you out a ton. id honestly say with the big 3 and lose the cap you willl be fine without the extra battery. at this point in your wattage choises the cap isnt really helping at all.

A re-manufactured Alt is 390. Battery at cost $110 is. Paying 800. The re-man'd Alt from dealer is 1500!!!!

Does anyone know if it's possible to add the cleansweep and still use the factory amp?

Granted I have 100k miles on the vehicle and still with original alternator.... I think the battery was probably not near 100% and the alt was already well worn... So adding those factors up with the added strain of the new amp. (and I noticed that a battery lead was lose at one point.... yet another straw on the camel's back).....
