"Inverted" Mounting: worth it?

Some people mount subs "inverted" or the basket outside of the box. I was considering doing this to save weight by having to build a smaller box so that I would not have to accomodate for sub displacement inside of the box.

If you have done it, how did you like it (sound and general asthetics etc)?

personally for just how it looks i would say yes ...that is if your sub has a sexy rear end ! thats my 2 cents no clue about the sound tho

I have 3 JL 12w6v1's (gonna be way too heavy for my poor little car), or hopefully (if someone trades me) 3 8" rl-i subs...

Shouldn't be any real difference in sound, unless the subwoofer has some mechanical noise.

If you like the looks of the *** end, then do it.

I dont think sub displacement will make your box that much heavier though......

I had to invert my 15" xxx because I couldn't build la box that I could get in my trunk AND have the sub inside the box. I had to build the part where the sub mounts at an angle so i have no choice...
