I Cannot agree with you guys more. I was hoping these are the responses that would be in here and not "Go buy the monster!". Basically yes, all of you guys are correct. The HDMI cables are digital signals, which means it's either 1 or 0, on or off. The only time you will need a higher quality HDMI cable is with lengths of over 15-25 feet most of the time. Me and my cousin (an electrical engineer) decided to spend the money and test 10 different brand HDMI cables out in various lengths, I'm pretty sure it was 6 feet (standard and most common), 15 feet, and then 25-50 feet because not all cables came in the same length at that point. Bottom line, there was no difference (noticeable at least) between any of the 10 different HDMI cables in 6 feet or 15 feet lengths, once we got up higher the quality did get lost a bit but still it was minimal. Some of the brands we tested were : Monoprice $3.97 cables Monster Platinum Series Cables (Or something like this, I remember it was $160 for a 6 foot cable) Phillips HDMI cables (Wal-mart was where we purchased them) Then just other random cables we found on ebay and other A/V stores around us and whatnot. ***Cliffnotes : Don't spend top dollar on short HDMI cables, if it's less than 15 feet, monoprice is the answer.
