Tiger direct sucks, so don't buy it, they screw you over.
But from some other place, I recommend http://www.newegg.com

I would try to find a board with some pcix16 slots on it for upgrades...

my .02$
I like tiger direct, never had any problems with them bought several things, but I will check newegg out

Tigerdirect aint that bad...

but newegg is awesome (ive bought more than $5k stuff from there and never had any problems) prompt shipping, low prices (recently theyve gotten a lot higher than what they used to have been), and awesome customer service!

Amd Athlon XP 64 and what ever board suits your taste

I've gotten screwed over from tiger, didn't/wouldn't ship stuff. Took 5 fricking months to get all the pieces for a entire fricking computer one time, and I ordered a completely different computer after that one on the same day, it shared some of the parts, and it was at my door by the end of the week. Tiger is forever on my shit list.

if your getting intel get a lga775 processor(the type) i suggest dual core presler 920/930/others or 820/830 etc

or amd at least a 3500 or so, i personally wouldnt go lower but you might not need it, and try an amd x2 if you can afford it

i have an ASUS motherboard and love it very nice and pretty good price on it

i have a asus p5ld2 and a pentiumd d 920(2.8ghz) everything is running good i have it overclocked now to 3.5 ghz, but alot of people ive read are at 4ghz+

the asus board has an auto overclock featyure but ive never used it, its really easy to just manually set it

are you building a whole computer or just new mobo/cpu?

What will be using your computer for ?
No, you shouldn't be using PC2700 memory unless you have a Socket A processor, in which case, you should buy a new computer anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
Ahh, just a lil gaming, and stuff like that, need a computer that will not lag when I have a bunch of programs open.

My current computer has socket A AMD Athlon 2400 I have 1gb pc2700 and 256Pc2700 on it right now. It does pretty good, not laggy. I can run photoshop, have 5 IE windows open, GTA:SA open, and still be able to play NFSU2. I just want a little more power, faster processor better memory. I found a deal a while back on tiger direct, you get a board, cpu (I think 3.2Ghz), and 512PC3200 for like $200.

I will try to find it again, and post a link.
