I've seen the video. The sub's paper cone fails and the voice coil is still fine.

Too bad it didn't happen in competition, because then it'd be a much bigger deal...

I dont understand his logic. He wants loud. DC has the world record for single loudest sub setup, but doesnt want multiple of the same sub. Instead he would rather go with a DD that costs WAY more and still not be as loud. I dont get it.

Meh.....depends....was in a extreme vehicle (seen it in person before) seems like any heavy duty SPL sub could have given the same if not better results with proper tweaking

And the DC breaking the world record isn't official, because it didn't happen at a sanctioned competition. Sucks, but that's the way it is...

Im not angry, Im just trying to understand his logic. I know DD isnt a shitty company.

The DC sub is affordable, though. I'm sure there are many subs that can do it with the proper "tweaking", but that DC sub doing it doesn't make it any less impressive...

If it can be done with tweaking why hasnt it already been done? If "superior" companies can do it then they should and put the doubt at rest.

I really don't have a doubt that the DDZ could equal or exceed the number the DC put up in the video we're talking about. It's just that noone has bothered to try yet. It'll happen eventually, and then someone will break it again. So it goes...

EDIT:

Maybe I shouldn't have said "noone has tried", because that's not true. The RIGHT person is yet to try would be a better choice of words...

Alan Dante has done 180+ with a single ddz18" and to my knowledge nobody else has done anywhere close off a single sub.

I don't compete, or follow the "sport" at all, so I don't know what the official world record is for any given division. Hell, I don't even know anything about the divisions...
