Alright so i'm installing my alpine CDA-9883 HU. First, after getting it done, it doesn't get power. Blown fuses. Fixed them. Thought I was good until i try to drive. As soon as my lights come on, the HU says "interrupt", and locks up. Lights off, it plays fine.

So I unhooked the appropriately named interrupt wire, and it works.

This is where the problem is. I'm slightly OCD, and knowing that there is a loose wire behind my head unit makes me want to kill.

Also, my subs aren't doing anything unless i turn the subwoofer level up. Which to me seems silly, like it's just another bass boost or bass setting or something on the HU that isn't needed to make the subs work.

So my questions are: What is causing the "interrupt" message, and how can it be fixed, other than just taking it apart a little bit. Also, is something hooked up incorrectly if my subs won't move without the subwoofer level @ +15? I'm about to break down and let someone else do something for me and probably pay them as well. So help me!!! Thank you.

Sounds like it would be better to get a hand with it. IMHO

lol you hooked up your illumination wire to your phone mute.

And maybe your subs are out out of phase or you have the rcas plugged in the wrong spot, if you turn and the bass setting and the subs get louder then you do

the rca's were in the bottom of the three available pairs of ins. Labeled SW. I'm assuming that's subwoofer. the thing is, i had the subs going fine in my old HU. of course the wiring is a bit different on this one. i'm just out of ideas. not really wanting to mess things up more, i'll be asking someone for help tomorrow. thanks guys.

I beg to differ if he has the ability to troubleshoot. It's a part of the learning system.

I would check the gains on your amplifier because Alpine is known for having low pre-out voltages. If you're using amplifier settings from an old headunit with higher pre-out voltages, this could account for the poor subwoofer performance with the bass settings.

Thanks SS. I figeted with some wires and got it all worked out, but did notice that i have to crank it to get the same beat i did with my old HU. Which was a Dual, probably five or six years old. I'll boost the gains up just a bit and see how that suits things.

The SUB-W on alpine decks is not a boost.

You want it at 15 not 0... if 15 is too much lower it a bit... but definitely 0 will have very little output.

set your gains at 15..
