Bought a M3a off lacrx a little bit back and havent gotten a chance to hook it up. I go to hook it up to one of my XXX's at 4ohm, taking it easy til i get the other in. Anyways the amp is sending a signal to my sub and its hearable, but not like what it should be. I thought at first it was just because it was super stiff but it still didnt seem right so I hook up a T2 at 2ohm on the amp. It was louder than my xxx but it still should have been going crazy on the amount of power i was sending to it.

Anyone have any ideas? Im going nuts. I just doubt that dave would send me a broken amp.

Test for significant voltage everywhere...? at the amp speaker terminals, at the sub/box terminals... Did you already?

Thought my amp was blowed... but was using the wrong channels for bridging. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Check for continuity in speaker wire too maybe?

Yeah i mean ive checked a lot of things with my DMM but idk what things are supposed to be. I will pick up a cheapo pair of rcas tomarrow and give it a try

um, you didn't wire one of the coils backwards, did you? try one coil at a time. make sure your amp is set right, too. if you got another sub to work fine, then i would say it's in the sub. also, ohm the coils

If i wired the coils wrong then I woulda smelt burning coil lol ive done it before, had it wired to 4ohm for a little and before I hooked it up, yes i checked it with a dmm

i looked at the site and at 4ohm, its rated at 600 rms on 14.4v. idk if that helps and that looks like a beastly amp btw. compare to 2 ohm of course its gonna be louder. lol

edit: and check your gain, or LPF to see if you forgot to raise it up a tiny bit. sometimes i get too excited that i forget to turn the gain just a bit to get some sound

lacrx SCAMMER...!!!!!! im going to start a thread on it... gimme a min... lol..

I would check the rca signal first. With a DMM set to AC voltage. if you check with your radio owners manual you will find out what the AC voltage should be coming down the rca line. It is best t check this with a test tone set on repeat(35hz or whatever you can get)

Next I would check the amplifier output. If you are getting a good signal from your RCA's you should have AC voltage on the speaker outputs of the amplifier. Positive to positive and negative to negative. Make sure the sub is not connected while you test the amp output. You should see some kind of AC voltage on your meter. The formula to figure out actual amp output is voltage squared / ohm load. Example, if the amp is putting out 47 volts at a 4 ohm load((47x47)/4) you are getting 552.25 watts output.

I you test this and you have output I would check for continuity on your speaker wire. Check to see if it is grounding against the chassis or pinched somewhere. If you are using a speaker teminal on the box the terminals can go bad. I hope some of this helps and good luck!

Thanks man that was much appreciated, I will check tomarrow night after work, I got what I needed to get done tonight, thanks again!
