Pulled over for nothing?

Kind of just a rant but this morning on the way to school I was driving and a state cop drove past me, I saw him so I let off the gas. I was not speeding and my windows are not tinted, my system was not turned up.

I saw him pull a u-turn and he eventually passed all of the cars behind me and I turned off. He comes up to my window and asks me to roll it up so I did, then rolled it back down. I asked him if he thought my windows were tinted and he said no and was fumbling his words. He said my exhaust was too loud, my taillights were too dark, and my I had a license plate cover.

My exhaust is NO where close as loud as half of the motorcylces and semi's on the road, my taillights arent even tinted, just 'Cateyes' painted in them, and my license plate cover is clear.

He went back to his car and checked my record(clean), then came back and said I was all good, just to get the stuff fixed. Then he looks in my car and sees my radar detector and is like "Thats technically illegal, obstruction of vision"... But my rearview mirror fell off so my radar is directly in the same spot where the mirror was.

Do you guys think these are the reasons he originally turned around for? Because he was braking before he even got passed me. I think he was just bored...

you got his attention somehow, and he wanted to have a look inside the car. If you werent speeding, why'd you slow down?

you werent pulled over for nothing. you were pulled over because a cop wanted to. they dont need any reason to pull you over and harass you. that is there job now. in the process they look for a reason or make something up just to write a ticket.

habit probably, I usually let off if I see a cop as well, speeding or not

I wasnt speeding, Its just a habit to let off. I drive a White 1997 Grand prix, the front bumper is in yellow primer..

He did ask if I had any drugs or illegal substances in the car..

Ive been pulled over about 5 times in my G35

The car doesnt really fit the area I work in

The area is not a bad area just VERY rural (100 miles north west of DFW)

I assume they think its stolen or something.

I give them my insurace and such and am always let go.

I have legal tint, no exhaust, just rims and such

get over that habit. Stop being afraid of cops. They are normal people that have a job to do just like you do. I drive about 600 miles a week, and see LOTS of morons on the roads when it comes to cops. People WILL NOT pass a cop on the freeway at all. Its a game to them (cops), they do it on purpose for laughs. I do 5 over on the freeway period. If a cop is doing the speed limit, I pass him. If I see a cop in the median, I maintain speed. How many times have I been pulled over? In 18 years... 3 times. 2X for speeding (15 over) and 1X for loud music. All of em when I was under 21 or so. I draw all kinds of attention from the cops when I am in my truck, but still dont get pulled over. No idea EXACTLY how fast I am going in it, it has no speedometer unless I have my GPS with me. Its louder than any car around me, and with 16.5" wide rear tires and a 4" hood cowl, kind of tells people.. "yup, its fast"

I got pulled over the other day on the way to work for doing 67 in a 65...

Mind you I passed the state trooper while he was in the left lane and I in the right, he must have been doing 63 or something.

No mods to my car, system isn't even close to loud. Just a state trooper trying to get his quota. End of the month :/

I got pulled over a few times in high school. My car was flashy though, LOUD 67 mustang with racing stripes etc... Got one ticket for speeding and thats it. I'd rather not give the cops any reason to pull me over so I play it safe when I am around them
