OK here's a what would you do question. I picked up my CD7000 from Don back in may and loved evry minute of it until 2 weeks ago. I was having some trouble with the face, but mostly it was the fact that my preouts died:furious: well, i had my first competition in like 5 days (took 2nd in novice btw, yay!) so I needed to get something that ran 3way, and needed it quick. I drove 2 hours to my closest Premeir dealer and picked up an 880, and subsequently got ***** (they were charging $495 and MSRP is $450, lovely place, but authorized.

So I've had the 880 in for 2 weeks, finally got around to sending my 7000 into Eclipse Diamond service, last week. And today I got back a brand spankin new from the factory 7000!!!! talk about a surprise, and quick ta boot!

Well now, I'm bummed I don't know which to stick with and which to sell off. I have the iPod adapters for both units, as well as the sirius tuners for both as well.

From a pure looks stanpoint the 880 looks nicer in dash, but the 7000 illumination is a perfect match to the factory.

feature wise its close, but I think I prefer the PEQ on the 7000 over the 880's 16 band normal EQ.

Both have great TA features- that's a wash

Pioneers remote kills over Eclipse

the auto setup on the pioneer is nice, but once it's dialed in what's that matter?

both hav 5v preouts, although my amps gains had to be bumped up when using the pioneer.

iPod functionality is nicer on the the Eclipse IMO

I have actually used the nav feature in the 7000, for a rod trip, it was nice, I don't have the extra box for the GPS but it was nice to have directions at the touch of a button.

Functionally, I think the 880 has the edge in ease of use, this could be due to the button problems on the 7000, that i was having tho.

When it come down to pure sound, i don't know. . .i kinda feel that the 7000 sounds more "real" to me. I could be full of it tho. spec wise between the 2 i don't know which is better equipped. the pioneer almost seems a tad digital sounding. like i said could just be in my head.

well this is a long enough post, so if anyone else has sampled both of these, what would you do???

thanks!

I wub my CD7000 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wish I could tell you that the CD7000 is junk but you're the first person I've heard have a problem.....but not many people own them. When it all comes down to it there are looks and sound. Since you have them both I'd try to give them a serious head to head and make a choice........

....make sure you tell us what you decided!

I think that's why I got a brand new unit, when i first called it into eclipse, they told me i had the first unit with this problem and they really wanted it back to go over it. my guess is they authorized united to give me a new unit so that they could get their hands back on this one.

I will say that if the serial #'s go in order i had one of the first hundred produced, so that could be it. (ithink the serial number was like 00000092 or something)

im just not a pioneer radio fan at all. id love to try the 880 unit.,

i can scroll through the eclpise fast. and change things pretty quick,

the big knob took a little to get a hang of.

the illumation matches my dash lights/etc. perfect.

but choose what you need feature/looks wise for you car.

I'm getting a cd7000 tomorrow. I sure hope I don't have the same problems as you did.
i wouldn't worry about it, dude. when i called this in they were really good about it, and i really believed them that this was the first incident of the problem. don't worry I get all the bad luck, im like a sponge for it LOL

The Eclipse of course gets my vote (having that warranty FTW ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif). Although the amount spent on the Pioneer would force me to find a use for it somewhere as you would never be able to recoup that. I just wish I had em in stock when ya needed it, now seeing what you paid makes me feel worse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Eh that's ok man, i wouldn't have gotten the 2 foot plastic trophy w/o a head unit LOL. I know, though if I let it go I'm going to take a crazy hit on it, and its only 2 weeks old. I thought the 7000 was going to be gone a while and I'd get used to the pioneer, and just sell it when I got it back, now I think I wanna just install it.

Take the 880 back and tell them you didnt like it? I try to keep a backup deck, only because I am always changing. I use to keep a older eclipse but let it go when I traded in my pickup. I am waiting for a deck now and use a old sony MD deck. I couldnt stand not having a cd so I went to walmart and bought one, will be returning next week when my new deck gets here

I have the CD7000 as well...its nice deck.. I have yet to see any deck beat out Eclipse preouts... I had my deck put on the scope and it DID NOT clip at all to my surprise.
