Protecto-Wrap products for sound deadening ?

There is a product available in Home Depot or Menards, NOT Peel&Seal but similar.

Its called Quick-Fix pipe and gutter repair tape. Its Asphalt(Petroleum;bitumen) based, and I have heard of it being used in car for sound deadening/damping. http://www.protectowrap.com/cat_spec.php .

I went to their website to find more about that and I found they have another line of butyl rubber based products also of which I couldn't more information. Both are self adhesive.

Has anyone over here used these products ? What do you think about them ? especially the butyl based SafSeal ?

nope. this one's odorless.

I forgot to mention it costs only about $1.5/sq.ft.

And I am sure the other butyl based wont stink at all.

Would rather get some raammat for 10 cents more a sq ft. But I am no expert, I'd rather just buy something proven.
