Profi CS265 problems

I have a set of these ran, passive, off of a JL 300/4. When I have them in the door, they sound very cracky and poppy. . . I thought they were blown. So, I hooked them up out of the door location(just on the floor) and they sound great. Anybody have something like this happen before? I'm using the stock speaker location with dynomat surrounding the hole, then a piece of 3/4" MDF for spacing. So if anyone could give me any ideas to try, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Make sure the terminals are not grounding against something metal when mounted...that'd be my suspicion.
