Problems with new frontstage

I just installed my new front stage equipment (in sig) and i set the gain my ear but it isn't any louder than the stock speakers on hu power if it's even as loud as them. Right now the tweeters arn't hooked up to the crossover because i ran out of wire and i just wanted to hear how the mids sounded. I havent played the speakers for more than 10 min. and the amp shut off saying overload. Could this be because the tweeters arn't connected? Any help or suggestions would be great.

Don't judge it until you connect the tweeters. The mids will not sound very loud by themselves either. Hook it up correctly before you start worrying.

Yea your messin with the ohm loads inside of the crossover which isnt good.

I'm with Computer.

When I play my speakers individually they don't sound too hot. However, when they all play together it's a world of difference.

As far as your amp shutting off, I don't know why that would be, unless you've set your gain too high, you have a short, pinched/loose wire, or your amp ground isn't good. My money is on a loose connection though.

As for this ohm load thing...I don't think that's right. Your crossover won't magically make your speakers work. Both speaker are 4ohm. As long as you're not clipping the amp, the resistance of the speakers themselves has no bearing on the power issue.

FYI: I had a rainbow comp set and went active with them. Didn't hurt a thing. Just had to adjust my individual gains.

The loudness issue also may come from the sensitivity of the speakers.

So i finally connected the tweeters and you guys were right much much better sound and it sounds quite a bit louder.

As for the amp shutting down it hasn't again and seems to run pretty cool so im not worried.

But I did have to turn the gain up quite a bit. Its at the 1 volt range and 3.5 db on both speakers. And my hu is rated at 5 volt inputs.

Wait for them to break in. Give them a few days, and they will sound better. A full week, and will sound GREAT.
