I have a kenwood KVT-817..I'm having a problem with it, It stays in stadby mode, But I am to use(access) my navigation, But everything else I try to access(tuner, Settings, DVD..) It just dies..I then hit the reset button and it gets me back to a standby reading..

Wow, I'm really glad I stumbled into this forum! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/awesome.gif.4430a219d9aaaa6cadc75e9290979dfb.gif

If a computer gives me a "hard time", I reboot.

Since I don't own a HU like yours but I can figure on it being heavily software-based, why not get the owner's manual out and see if anything along the lines of a reboot can be done?

Thanks guys!

There is a reset button on the front, And I have tried it a hundred time by now...I did get it to work, 5 out of them hundred times...But, After awhile it would go blank and I'd have to reset it just to get it to say "standby"....

One time I shut the door and that made it stop, Another time I punched the door and that stopped it..I'm not blowin any fuses...Even when it goes blank there is still power, I know this because, When I hit the eject button I can hear motor going, But I still have to hit the reset button to get it to light up and give me the "standby" message..

I'm not sure if there is a wiring problem somewhere or if a wiring problem would cause this..

It was working fine when I last listened to it, Last summer..

Maybe a short on the speaker leads in the door that you "hit"

if they are plugged into the h/u

does the problem only ocurr when you are trying to do something with sound?

try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, that may give it a chance to reboot

do u have any amps pluged in to the lead for the ant. if there is a short in that wire somewere and u turn on anything audio related that would bring up the electric ant. that would do it. just for poo's and giggles, try unhooking the speaker leads from the back of the HU. it could also be what savagebee said.

I will disconnect the speakers to rule that out..

The problem happens when I try and access the, Tuner, DVD, Nav, TV Tuner, I pick one, Then a sec later it goes blank..

No amps plugged in at this time...Will do on the speakers..

is your HU detachable face? you may be having connection issues from the face to the rest of the HU.
Yes it is..That could be also!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif
