Pretty much a noob question. Please dont flame me

ok so im going to be running a set of comps which are going to see 180 rms per side (360 total).

If it makes a difference the speakers im using are the POLK MOMO MM6

can i use 16 gauge speaker wire to wire them up? its about a 20 foot distance?

i have about 6 feet from the amp to crossovers then another 14 or so from the xovers to the mid rangge and tweeter. I did it this way so i could mount the xovers in the trunk and still have access to the switches and everything on them.

if i am not mistaken by doing it this way the longer wires dont see the full 180 rms since it is split up by the xover and there is some loss due to that. assuming there is no loss in the xover the power would still be 180 to the tweet and 180 to the mid correct? for example the power dosnt split in half but rather it divides the single signal into 2 separate signals of the same amplitude (assuming no loss).

SIDE QUESTION:

if i decide to run active will i lose a lot of output? what would be the benefit of going active. (my amp does 90x4 @4 ohms, 120x4 @2 ohms and 180x2 @4 ohms.

Do i need to watch out for impedance issues or are the tweets and mids 4ohms without the xovers?

I would rather see you with 14 gauge speaker wire. 16 would probably work, though.
It's hard to say if running active would decrease output with that amp... too many factors.
thanks for the opinion.

I just said screw it tho and bought a 100 ft roll of 12 gauge. got it for $32 shipped!

i decided im just gonna make the long runs extra long in case i decide to bypass the xover and go active at some point. that way ill have continuous runs of 12 going direct to the tweet and mid from the amp if i ever go active.

about the output i was basically wondering does the full 180 transmit through the xover to the tweet and the mid or does it divide the power between the 2?

If it divides the power then i should gain output by going active since the tweet and mid load are less than 4 ohms so they will see more than 90 watts from my amp. 4 ohms is the final system load with the xover and everything wired up.

Oh and one more question:

does twisting the wires do anything in reality? for example the karma wire from knu. i bought untwisted wire but that can easily be changed with a drill, is it worth the effort and loss of length? will i even lose a respectable length by doing this or is it pretty much negligible?
