preouts eq

got a alpine w/ sub front and rear 4 volt preouts...but im hookin up a pre amp eq...i have to run 1 set of rca's to the eq...? is do i use the sub output behind the cd player or the front or rear outputs...thx

maybe ill simplify it for u guys....

1.. 3 preouts in back of alpine cd player

2.. 1 sub, 1 front ,, 1 rear

3..preamp equalizer

4..should i use the sub,front,or rear for the rca lead for the eq..

im leaning for the sub output but not sure.....

I guess it would be the preouts you want equalized. If you just run the sub preouts through the EQ, the front and rear preouts won't be equalized and the same thing will happen for the others. You need an equalizer that will handle all three sets to equalize everything. If that makes sense.

well what happens is u connect all the rca's to the amps and run them to the eq...the eq has a input, sub,front,rear rca inputs...u connect them to the apprpriete plug...but i need to no wich rca(1) from the hu i should use to send the signal to the eq....

It sounds like you have it backwards. You should send all the RCA's from the HU to the EQ, then you out put the EQ signal to the amps, then the speakers.

Send the front channel output from the HU to the EQ. Then you can fade using the HU if you dont have a rear channel amp or from the EQ if you have a rear amp. I run the rear speakers from the HU and I have a front component amp and sub amp. The EQ is probably looking for a full range signal, then it splits it into front out, rear out and sub out. Im not sure sending it a sub output will work, maybe Im wrong? This is how mine is set up - Panasonic HU with 3 4v preouts and Clarion in dash EQ with 1 input. You cant sent it 3 outs with only 1 input.

tbrikner is the closest by far. It really depends on the eq, by that I mean how many preouts does the eq have, does it have front / rear / sub preouts as well. Is there a fade control on the front, does it have a master volume control on the front, does it have a sub level control on the front. If the answer to these questions is yes, then think of the eq as your head unit and your head unit as some kind of source only. The eq does indeed need a full range signal for it to work properly. Post up the balance of your system and someone can go through it with you.

the eq accepts 1 rca input to send the signal to the hu(vice versa)..the eq itself has a front and rear fader,sub control,5 eq settings for the front and like 8 or 9 for the rear..

the eq has 3 inputs,front,rear, sub

it does not have a volume control on it

does have a sub control....

alpine hu w/ 4v sub output with sub volume control(hu)

its the weak link of the system,but it has all i need i it sounds great...(legacy)yea yea i no...i bought it a while back and am deciding to put it back in my new car...i have a semi new mtx x over(3 way) but it makes tunig alot easier using this eq..and since its pre amp i figure it would be better then if it wasnt...but beleive me it does sound pretty good.. i think itas a 10 or 12 band
