Never were as good as the PC series IMHO.
From the looks of things DEI (Satan of car audio) used the old PC series boards and bastardized them with cheap Asian parts. Compare the boards at ampguts.com. Then they upped the power rating slightly so a PC275 (or PC300 depending on year) which was 2x75watts became the PCX280 which was 2x80 watts. This is no big deal because the PC series was waaaay under rated. PC amps also took their power ratings at 12.5 volts and .02% distortion. Compare that to amps with a CEA rating at .1%
I was an installer back when the PC amps were new. To this day, IMHO, I don't think there are many amps that can touch them. Which is way I have a stock pile of them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
Oh, and to answer your question: You'll definitely get a lot of power out of that amp. But like all car audio with a DEI heritage the reliability might be of some concern.
