Hello I recently got an old Special Edition 4100 amp that was built by PPI. The only specs I can find are:

100 x 4 RMS at 4 ohms

.03 THD

I know it's a long shot but does anyone know anything more about these amps? S/N ? Dampning Factor? Etc?

from what I remember these are supposed to be decent amps.

Here is a link to the pictures:

That's the old ppi made amp.probably same specs as the old am series amps...

Plus I think it's a 50x4....most model numbers were bridged or 2 ohm power.

That makes total sense as the board says AM 4075 on it. Thank you!

Here is a link to all the PPI manuals on their site.. Has stuff back to late 80's..

Index of /Manuals/Amplifier Manuals

Your specific manual you want is here http://www.precisionpower.com/Manuals/Amplifier%20Manuals/Precision_Power_4100AM%20&%204200AM%20Amplifiers.pdf

But the official power rating for the 4100AM is 25W x 4 at 4 ohm (Continous Power). (as written on the top of the amp, see pic bellow)

Bridgeable into 2 channel and will get you 75W x 2.

THD is .02%

SNR is 102dB

Stereo it can handle 2-8 ohm

Bridged it can handle 4-8 ohm

This is an excellent amp for doing front and rear mids and highs.. A few were on Ebay back in November..

Basically a 4100AM is really a very versatile amp. I passed on the two I saw on Ebay and acquired a 2300, 2150, 2) 2075's and 2) 2050's. looking for more 2050's and another 2150 now..

Tremendous thank you, this helps a lot.

I think this amp may actually be the Special Edition version of the PPI 4200. I checked the guts pics I have on file of my 4200AM and the internals are nearly identical. Not surprising since both amps are of course made by PPI. If this is the case then, your Special Edition amp should be outputting 4x50 watts at 4 ohms and 4x75 watts at 2 ohms in stereo. Both of those numbers should be at 12 volts. That's the benefit of a tightly regulated power supply.

And to be clear, they don't automatically make a ton more power at 14.4 volts. Again, because of the regulated power supply. Maybe 10% more maximum.

I use my PPI 4200am in bridged mode to get 150x2 to my components and a 2150am in 2 ohm stereo to send 300 watts to each of my IDQ 10's. Very happy with this setup!

Thank you ppi_guy! I'm going to use it for my components and one of my Art 600.2 amps on a single JL sub. And today I'm picking up a chrome PC44000 !
