Ppi Pcx 2200 & Pc 1800.2

Both amps are rated at 800 watts. The difference is the PCX 2200 (class A/B) is rated at 800 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms and the PC 1800.2 is rated at 800 watts x 1 @ 2ohms and is class D. Should there be a major difference in overall output when they are rated the same. Obviously the PCX 2200 (class A/B) will have a little lower distortion and be more of a musical amp but will there be any loss in SPL switching from the PC 1800.2 to the PCX 2200? Even though they are both regulated power supplies, how much if any are these amps underrated?
