PPI Par 225 hook up?

I used to have a PPI Par 225 hooked up in my truck with an A600 and A400 I think it was.

I really liked the Par 225 so I bought another one about 2 years ago and never hooked it up.

I was wondering if I can hook up a Par 225 to anything other then a PPI amp.

I have 2 Rockford Power amps that I would like to use if possible.

A shop told me I couldnt because they use Phantom Power? Not sure what that means.

Anyone give me any advice?

Been searching Google, but cannot come up with any answers.

yes , you can buy adapters on ebay just search "PPI din". I have the same EQ and i made adapters. each din plug has 5 pins. center pin is RCA ground , the pins on each side of the ground pin are left and right RCA , don't eff with the pins on far right and far left. They are for a PPI feature called "phantom power".

I cut plugs off of old keyboards and soldered the leads to a old RCA Jack from a broken amp

Heres a video of it working perfectly connected how i mentioned. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZunOPQdxrw

That is what you need , 2 actually , but just like his description says , leave the two extra wires alone. You don't have PPI amps so you will be using the standard power port on the EQ to power it up , see the 3 wire plug in my pic , thats how you will be powering the EQ

Ok so I get 2 of the adapters, and those would hook up where?

Also I see the optional direct power.

I would have 12v power / ground / and remote turn on? I assume I could hook up the blue wire to the remote turn on lead from the HU?

Well that sounds easy enough. Does it matter which amp I run which Din too? I have a sub amp and a 4 channel front/rear amp. Would I need to get a Y connector for the 2 channels going to the front/rear amp? Or is there a better way?

Ok I looked up and yes my 4 channel has the 2channel switch.

I see the the input for it. I never hooked up my amp this way. Will all 4 speakers work still?

I am assuming I am going to lose fading ability?

I am almost considering just dumping the rear deck speakers and putting all of it up front....

I would go all up front off the amp and hook the rear speakers up to the deck power just to give a little rear fill. But if you decide to hook all 4 to the amp , yes they will all play but you will lose ability to fade. Which is gonna happen no matter what because the eq only has front and rear outs to begin with and you need the rear ones for the sub. OR!!! you could connect the sub straight to the decks RCA's and use the EQ strictly for your front and rear speakers.

That might be an option.

One thing I was looking at was the Par 225 is rated at 5 volt output. My radio is 4 volt output.

Would going through the process of hooking this up really make a huge difference in the sound?

It was so many years ago when I had one that I honestly forgot what exactly it did.

I am looking at the manual now...and wow. So many switches.

Apparently I cannot post links? Kept saying going to a moderator.

Are those special 5pin to rca adapters, or can I pick them up at Radio Shack?

I see a few places selling them at around $5 but do not want to get them if they wont work.

Also, I found my par225 in the garage. I do indeed have the power adapter. I also have the adapters for rca but they look really beat up.

Figured I would get some new ones and not have to worry.
