PPI Deq-230 Eq??

if you are knowledgable on setting EQs this thing will do your system great. It will fine tune your system down to the nitty gritty. combine it with a FRX-456 and you have all the control over your system you need.

I am hunting down a black "art series" style one myself.

Thanks for the info. I think I am going to get the FRX-456 for sure. Did they ever make it in black or just the grey/silver. I am trying to keep everything the same, but i did find the FRX for a good price on ebay, but it is grey/silver.

yes, they did make it in a black and white. Back when they were making the Art Series line. and they pop up on ebay quite often. I would hold off and grab a black one. They were made back when PPI was the shit, and the grey/silver are made since DEI bought them out. They may be built the exact same, I am not sure, but I would hold off for a black Art Series model if I were you.

I just scored a black Art Series FRX-456 off ebay. I got lucky as hell and it was still brand new! not even a finger print on it all the original packaging papers, etc.

I am also a little confused about the crossover. I am only running a 2-way setup right now and have my Iridiums crossed over at around 56Hz through my 300/2. It looks like on the FRX I won't be able to cross them over lower than 80Hz. Am I missing something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif or would I have to run a dedicated midbass through the crossover to get it that low, or is there a way to cross my Iridiums this low with the FRX? Thanks to anyone that can answer this.

Thanks then I will hold off until I find a black one. What did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

cjj2d,

Do you know the answer to this??

Kali

there are three "Front Outputs" (this is one of the things that makes this crossover so able to fine tune everything). one is midbass, one is midrange, one is highpass. You could probably use the midbass output that will allow you to cross it as low as 56 as well. They probably only have it that low on the "midbass" output cause most people don't cross their midrange lower than 80. But if they can handle the duty go for it.

You could actually run 3 "front channel" amps off this thing. one amp for each speaker and tune it into where you like it. that is what I am probably going to do. and not use my Hex crossover eventually.

I am extremely confused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif If I ran them through the midbass channel then it looks like they will only be able to play up to 500Hz. It seems to me it is designed for a 3-way system. I am lost. I know I want my Iridiums crossed lower than 80Hz for sure. I am not in the position right now to add a dedicated mid-bass even though that would be the way I would love to go.

I would run them crossed at 80, but in your case if you are just sticking to a 2 way component set and sub setup. then the FRX 456 would be to much for your system. It is definatly more of a 3way system friendly crossover, I would not have gotten mine if I wasn't adding the XXX midbass drivers.

Well since the amps have no crossovers. What could I use if I don't get the FRX. I don't want to use my HU.
