PPI art A404 wiring questions/help

Ok I have looked at many manuals and cant get an exact answer as to the possiable wiring(s).

Im looking to run stereo front 2ch and if possible 2 rear subs(jl 8w3's)..can I do this? if so ..HOW? basically im not sure between what the manual says....

"the Front and Rear channels of your (four channel) Art Series amplifier are capable of

of being bridged into a mono output due to the internal design of the amplifier. This feature

permits the creation of a mono channel for a subwoofer or center channel. Also bridging

adds flexibility of operation. The Art Series four-channel amplifiers can be used as 2 mono

channels, 3 channels - 2 channel stereo and one channel mono, 4 channels - 2 channels

front and rear, 5 channels - 4 channels stereo and one channel mono, or 6 channels - 4

channels stereo and 2 channels mono."

....maybe a diagram will help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks guys The reason I want to try this is to test the amp,its old:) And want to see if she can still deliever what i remembered it could do 15+ years ago on both its LPF/HPF sound reproduction and to see if i can notice any degrading that may have taken place for being 20 years old (caps etc..)........ but have forgotton the proper way to do so:)

The problem is that the A404 will only drive 4-ohms when bridged. You have two 4-ohm subs, which isn't a good match to this amp. You have a few of choices, but none are ideal:

1) Use channels 1 & 2 to drive the Fr-Lt and Fr-Rt speakers. Bridge channels 3 & 4 to drive *one* of your 4-ohm subs.

2) Use channels 1 & 2 to drive the Fr-Lt and Fr-Rt speakers. Connect one sub to channel 3 and one sub to channel 4

3) Use channels 1 & 2 to drive the Fr-Lt and Fr-Rt speakers. Bridge channels 3 & 4 and connect the subs in *series* for a single 8-ohm load.

All above options will produce sound and not overload the amp. Options 2 and 3 will probably not drive the subs hard enough. Option 1 may actually be your best option because the amp will drive the single properly matched 4-ohm sub pretty hard bridged.
