powering a idmax

if i were to go from my bx1000d to a nine.1 would there be a noticible increase in spl in my box(2.7 cube ported) and would it be too much stress for the idmax? i kind of think it maybe overkill do to to fact that now that my bx1000d is out of commission and i'm pushing the sub with a old 222w sony i borrowed from a friend i noticed that in my box it wasn't that much louder with brutus considering it was getting over 10 times the power.

you wouldnt notice much diff at all between the brutus and 9.1
probly not... it takes quite a bit more power (typically 2-3x more) for the ear to notice a gain.

However, the meter can definitely tell the difference //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

that what i was thinking due to the fact that it isn't that much louder with the brutus compared to the sony with that huge power difference. since i had to rewire the sub in series for the sony to work i'll probally just run the brutus at 4ohms at first when i get it back.

IMO i would go with the nine 1, if u check it out on the icix nation page, ben has b-stock amps on sale, it is 275 for the amp, that is a hell of a deal, guy that lives near me has one and it's beautiful, he says it was better than his brutus, also u can't beat the eD 3 year warranty

would the bx1000d push a brahma 12 good in a ported box? i really am considering upgrading my system if i can this job i'm looking into. i really wish eD would go ahead and come out with the A series v.2 espescially if it keeps the small box design of the previous generation

I have the BX1000d right now on the 12 inch Brahma in a 2.25 box tuned to 27 hz. It pushes it very well, I think on certain songs I could use some more power but on lower bass 45hz and under it does great. I have never heard one on anything else so I do not really have a reference point.

if you just bought a new amp, and it hit the same number as your cheaper amp... wouldn't you say the new one is better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. I remember when we swapped it in... heh.

Its sexy... but its not worth spending all that when you already have a competant amp.

thats what i think speakerman. the only way i would spend the money to do it is if its significantly louder. the only reason why i even asked the question is because my friend has a idmax getting pushed by a 1501d in a ford contour and it has around the same spl of my setup in a 2.0 cube sealed box and i had mine in the exact same box and it mine was nowhere near as loud as his in that box and the 1501d is rated for 750 at 2 ohms and probally puts out about 900 actually. and the car he put it in has no sounddeading whatsover, both our cars are sedans with a trunk and his speaker actually points up at the top of the trunklid compared to mine bieng pointed to back and my car is smaller with some sounddeading so my car/install should be better for spl. but then again he did have the amp on its own yellow top. but back on topic i'll probally get the brahma and i would tune my box a little higher than 27hz since i'm a basshead so hopefully mine wouldn't seem underpowered on certain songs. heck i would probally try it in my current box at first anyway.

the nine.1 has been benched at around 1500 watts so that might be a little much for an idmax. the brahma would be able to take a lot more power then that hifonics. my brahma handles my tantrum easily which puts out 500 more watts then that hifonics.
