My setup is a 2001 Audi A6 with a JVC KD-XBT50 media player (50W X 4), JBL GTO628 in the front doors and a Rockford P300-10 powered sub (300W) in the trunk. The head unit works flawlessly with the JBLs and sounds fantastic - the problem is with the sub, which I just added. It runs off of the low level of the head unit, and has good power and ground. The output level is extremely low, even with the gain and boost cranked pretty far up on the amp. The back seat is down - with the back seat up you cannot even hear the sub. I have to back the fader way off of the front channel to try to even the sound. Can there be this much of a efficiency difference between the front speakers and the sub? I've fiddled with the crossover, deck adjustments, etc. On the deck, the front speakers are blasting at 20 volume - even with the fader adjusted several notches to the rear, the bass really doesn't come through until you hit 25-27. I know these are just numbers, but it represents a huge volume difference. What am I missing?
