You can't make an appointment to see a spinal specialist without going through a gatekeeper first, like a Family Medicine doctor. You need to be referred.
It could be nothing, but you haven't described it too well, IMO. Is it an actual lump in your flesh? Or just a spot that hurts frequently and you call it a 'knot'? If there's physically a lump there, then it could be looked into.
I lived close to OKC, but can't recommend any docs there... there's a billion of 'em, just pick up a phone book and see if someone is accepting new patients.
Why are you so worried about a doctor you can 'trust'? Do you think doctors come to work every day with the intention of defrauding and ignoring their patients? Are you afraid you're going to get blown off and not taken seriously? Or are you looking for someone you can walk into their office and tell them you need surgery and they say, "Oh yes, sir, I'll schedule that for you right away... what kind of surgery would you like?" Believe it or not, this is the kind of thing alot of patients do. They have looked up on the 'Net and think they've diagnosed themselves and they just need the prescription or the diagnosis in the chart so they can get on with their treatment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif I can tell you, if you go in telling your doc you looked it up on the 'Net and you're pretty convinced you've got a back tumor, you won't get the greatest response....
What you're describing is pretty vague and could be anything from a simply congenital anomaly to a bulging disc to many other things... nothing can be determined without a thorough medical history, physical exam, and investigations such as an MRI (IF warranted). It's not a quick-fix any way around.... but you have to start with a gate-keeper, which is the general practitioner. This is how our system is set up... they filter out the nutjobs, wackos, drug-seekers, and others who don't need to waste the time of our specialists... otherwise the specialists would be swamped many times over. Hell, people complain about having to wait to get in to see their specialist as it is... and that's WITH gate-keepers in place, try to imagine what it would be like if it were so easy to simply walk in and see the back-surgeon. lol
