ok well the tuning frequency of my box is 38.6 hertz and i want to lower it a bit. my external box dimensions are 18",15",21.5. the volume of box after port and speaker displacement is 1.739 cubes. the port is 13.5" x 2.5" giving me 33.75" port area. i was wondering if i can lower the frequency by adding a .5 thick particle board to the inside walls of the port to lower the port volume and port area. this will give me around 34 hertz tuning right? can someone check if i have a method to my madness?

volume 1.739 cu ft

current port length 30.25"

current port area 33.75"

this is what i mean.

what i have now

so after adding the particle board i will have a port area of 27sq inches. volume of box after displacement will stay the same. slot will be 2" wide, 13.5" tall.

will this give me tuning of around 34 hertz or does something else comes into play here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

by the way this was my first box lol this is how it turned out looking //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif not bad for first time?

the above dimensions are for one side of the box since its 2 different chambers.
