Possible config for my Jeep. Input needed!

I'm building a SQ oriented system. Classical, jazz, blues, old rock is the music of choice. Vehicle is an 06 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (not the new 07 body style).

Genesis Profile P5 amp (50w x4 +150 x1 RMS)

Alpine 9887 HU

Polk SR 6.5 driver in Select increments Mod-Pod on floor under door (Mid Bass)

Polk Momo 5.25 driver in factory location in dash

Polk SR tweeter mounted on corner of each end of dash

Polk DB 10 sub in a sealed .7-.8 custom box

I can use the timing feature of the 9887 to get the sound right for the front stage. Add a little delay to keep the soundstage in front instead of all over.

My thought is that using the mids in the front and no speakers in the soundbar will give me a better sound than using the soundbar location for speakers.

Thoughts?

As a former TJ Wrangler owner I think you're are wasting tons of money. The pods are a great idea. I loved mine. But in a Jeep you'll never be able to tell the difference between Polk SR's and Kicker RS's. The seating position vs. speaker positioning makes for a crappy soundstage. The vehicle noise at highway speeds trumps just about any amount of wattage you can throw at your speakers.

If you're going to put expensive equipment in a Jeep you might as well find the first kid at the mall with a skateboard and hand your equipment to him. Because that's who is going to steal it the first time you park it. I can pop a Jeep open in 10 seconds with the hard top and the hard doors.

I had 4, 5.25 inch Kove coaxials, 2 10" round Kicker Solobarics, and a Kicker kx700.5 under the back seat. But my Jeep wasn't a daily driver and was only driven on really nice days, or really crappy snowy days. The rest of the time it was locked in the garage.

I embarked on this adventure after seeing 2 different Jeeps with nice systems in them. I agree the road noise is MUCH higher than a car but up to 60-65mph the new soft tops made from several layers of sailcloth do help some over the older Jeeps. Theft is a concern but the only thing that will be visible is the pods. I have a steel console that I will put the HU face plate in when not in use. Not totally secure and certainly won't keep a determined thief away but nothing will in that regards. The sub will be housed in a fake floor. Essentially I am raising the floor level and using the same Jeep carpet to blend it in.

Its my daily driver but I work from home so it only gets used for family outings, etc...

Did you have any of your gear stolen? I am considering an alarm as well. Viper seems to be the flavor of choice. Alarm suggestions? I don't need remote start just cabin, door and hood with vibration and motion sensors.

I tend to get carried away when building hence the config I listed. I'm open to suggestions for a system with decent sound for less $$$$ if someone can make suggestions!

I had a Python alarm with the perimeter (radar) sensor. I also had a sailcloth Bestop.

Best looking wheel on a Jeep ever...IMHO.

Yanno, I really LIKE my VW but I LOVED my Jeep. Some guy was driving it in the opposite direction on a local road a month back and I felt a little tear start to form in the corner of my eye. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
