Possible Blown Mids?

I brought my car to the audio shop the other day because I needed my sub replaced under warranty. However, the guy working there was fooling around with the amp. When I got my car back I noticed that both mids weren't working right. The tweeters were over powering them and there was no mid bass at all. I put my ear close to them and from what I can tell the mids are only playing vocals, and cannot play any Mids, no matter what settings I change. I went back to the shop and the guy said he never touched any of the connections, but I checked them over anyway and everything seems right. Anyone have any idea what is wrong?

that was my guess on the other forum too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I was gonna ask you there, but did you check the HU settings?

All my headunit settings were the same as I left them. The High pass filter was set at 125. Now, if I leave the HPF at 125, the mids are barely noticeable. The only way I can get my mids to put out any mid bass at all, is if I turn the HPF off altogether, but its still mostly playing vocals.

i didnt' seee but did you check the xover settings on the amp?

Yes, the amp has its own variable high pass filter. Check that one out and make sure that it is defeated. He may have seen that it was off and turned it on thinking it would help you not knowing that your headunit had one.

On the amp there is a flat, low pass, and high pass switch. It is selected on high pass which was what I originally had it set to.

Set it to flat.
or set it to high pass and drop the dial (assuming there is one) to around 80-100hz you can go lower as well if you like it better like that.

the reason you do this is there wont be any problems with your woofer overworking and blowing when it plays a really low frequency subs are meant to play

There's no real point when his headunit is set to a 125hz HP.

oh didnt read that.... well in THAT case, take off teh xover on the unit and drop the high pass on the amp.
I found the problem. The switch was stuck between the low pass and high pass setting. I switched to high pass and its working fine now.

Also, My HPF on my headunit is set at 125, and I also have the high pass selected on the amp itself. Should I only be using one of these High pass filters?
