Have been thinking about this a bit recently. There is a broad age range of users here at CA.com which of course is a benefit as the diversity allows members of all ages to share their commom interest in CA and share accordingly.

However as the site has grown and addresses more diverse issues, most specifically here in the lounge (which is of course why it was designed) some members bring up issues/experiences that are definately related to age/life situation. I am thinking recently to a thread about how to dsclipline a child for a series of irresponsible moves. In this thread there were tons of replies, clearly from users of many different age groups. I think in this particular situation the member starting the thread was truly looking for advice relating to his specific situation.

There are also many other threads that are along the lines of "my mom and dad this and my teachers at school that." This is also just fine. However, in a sort of informal lounge environment maybe threads relating directly to issues that are specific to age and life situations should be seperated to facilitate the best responces for the thread starter.

of course all members should have complete access to all areas of the forum but maybe in the age/life situation specific threads that are semi serious, users could also give the courtesy of recognizing that the OP might be in a different life spot. and when responding identify their commonality a bit.

Regardless, 99% of what happens in the lounge is complete BS and we of course have to recognize that and as usual take things with a bunch of grains of salt.

Flame on and on at me for being a ***** or what not. Was just thinking that with the diversity of members here, might be a consideration.

I think he's just saying to have separate sections for people to make threads where they really apply more to younger or older people, and I think that makes sense, and will cause people to get the most valuable responses possible.

Its just like when people post in the wrong section, people who don't really give a **** about the topic will post something negative or pointless in it because they didn't want to see it in the first place. This way people will know what to expect and what level of maturity they should be displaying, whether its okay to be joking around with someone or they really need serious help, etc

of course, people will still be jackasses, so it won't make a huge difference, but at least the ones who care will know when its okay to act like that
