Positioning and aiming of new surround speakers

I don't have it here yet but by next week the Def Tech 1000 system I ordered should be here. I have some questions on location of the pieces though! Here is my deal:

- Room is 14' x 14'

- Left wall has the opening for the front door. This wall is also insulated

- I have a sectional that sits all the way to the back wall into the corner with the rear wall

- Flat screen is on the front wall basically as you walk in the door

The center speaker is a given putting it above or below the flat panel. The subwoofer will go either immediately to the left of the sectional firing forward or to the extreme left in the corner on an angle (catty corner) firing to the front right corner. In the corner would be best since at some point in time someone has put a hole there in the floor to run wires making it a real easy install.

My hardest problem is the other four channels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif I can put the two fronts up by the flat and fire them to the back where the sectional is or mount them on the side walls firing L to R/ R to L. The harder question is the rears! If I put them on the back wall they will be firing over your head to the front. I could possibly get some tricky mounts to angle them in the corners and fire them that way or put them on the side walls firing L to R/ R to L. Opinions?

For the left and right surrounds:

Equal distance from the wall TV is on, 36 inches above listening position (your head) and 10 degrees behind your listening position (your head)

For the rear surrounds (L & R):

48 inches above your listening position (your head) and placed so that your listening position ( //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif ) is smack dab in the middle of them.

also, ensure that the rear left and rear right speakers are at an angle pointing at your listening position (your mug)

Is there any way you can scoot your sectional away from the wall lets say...3 or 4 feet? if so, then it would be ideal. if not then things may get a bit tricky.

This solution may work for you:

However, there are limitations to this setup according to your room size and furniture involved. Also I am not a big fan of placing a subwoofer in a corner. In the HT world this is a big no no! A subwoofer should be placed on the longest wall of the rectangle 1/4th to 1/3rd of the length of the wall (do not exeed the halfway point)

Also, there will be a lot of tweaking as far as time alignment is concerned. According to this diagram the left and right surrounds do not have the same distance from the listening area. I trust your receiver will let you do this.

Is there any way you can substitute the sectional for something else? A few comfy recliners maybe? Or a roomy couch?
