ports instead of fans

im thinking about cooling my amp by setting it about 6 inches parallel from the side of the box and having my port push/pull the air on/off the amp

im using 3 ports and only goin to put one on the side with the amp.

the other two:straight under my seat,

pointing to the pasengers side of my extended cab

is that good enough for cooling an amp

Win ISD sais that the speed of the air outof the ports is 28.5 m/s (93 f/s) (64 mph)

thats what i heard somewhere.. but in another place i heard 110 f/s wich is 33.5 m/s.. so idk

ill just put it down to below 17 and go from there

.. is that still good enough for cooling the amp

p.s. where i heard it was 17 m/s they said it was 17 at 100 watts

that 28.5 was at rms(900)

its at 9.5 at 100 wats

but yeah im sure that where i found it it said 17 m/s at 100 watts

right now theres 3 4inch ports at 13.5 inches long for tuning at 35.1... and i dont know if i wanna do 4 but if i have to i will

I think it will depend on the amp itself. But hey, moving air around the amp has to be beter than nothing at all if it is heatsinked properly.

Probably wouldn't be hard, same concept as liquid cooling a CPU.

Except with a lot more bouncing around in a car. I don't know if I'd trust putting water + electronics in a car environment. I don't care how tight those connections are, it doesnt sound good to me.

obviously it wouldn't be the smartest of ideas to put a liquid cooling system on an amplifier getting rattled by a pair of subs at full tilt...

I would cry for a very long time if that happened...

iirc crutchfield was selling some amps quite a while back that were liquid cooled...I want to say they were bazooka amps?

yea bazooka had a whole "chil" system as they called it. It went thru both the amps and the subwoofers to liquid cool them. Didnt really catch on, i never tried it but was skeptical. They said the cooling "doubled the subs power handling"
