polyester fibers vs polyfill

Yes, the pillow stuffing will work as acoustic stuffing as long as it has not been overly compressed.

Brand name stuffing such as "Acousta-Stuff" and similar products use fibers that have greater surface area than regular polyfill and tend to be more effective. But regular polyfill still works great and is cheap or even free. In most car subwoofer applications the stuffing is not that important so the pillow should work just fine.

yeah i mean i dont mind buying some polyfill but joann fabrics only sells it in large quantities that costs $20. i dont know if its worth buying a new pillow or just using what i have from this old pillow

As previously said, yes there is a difference, no it doesn't matter for any practical application. If you're really worried about it, just get fiberglass as it does the same thing better than both.
