Just so you know, if they do catch it and you spend it... You’re going to have to pay it back... Also if they accuse you of knowing about it (this thread as great evidence) they can have you prosecuted as it’s a violation of several federal laws, not to mention whatever state laws you would be in violation of. I say, let it earn some interest till they figure it out and ask for this thread to be deleted.

yes, why not transfer it your bank account...withdraw everything.....close bank account.....drive a few blocks away......open new account at diff. bank?

You might as well just return it. I'd imagine if you keep it it's essentialy stealing. Plus, is any jail time worth $500? Probably not.

they will more than likely find it, just leave it in there for a while and see if they snatch it out

Haha.... I love the responses.

Just been on the phone with my bank... they still say it was never taken out of my account. Money's sittin' in PayPal, planning on calling them and telling them about it, but it's a weird situation overall. I probably WILL be removing my bank account from PayPal, as well as closing this account and opening another one. As I mentioned before, this isn't my main account, it's pretty much kept open for only PayPal plus one other monthly transaction. We can work around it.

And for the record, I never planned on keeping this money, regardless. I just wanted to see people's responses, which I expected to be mostly along the lines "Fook PayPal, man! Keep the money!"

put it into a bank account (savings or something w/ decent interest) and let it sit and collect interest on it for yourself and IF they find it give it back. might as well make alittle on it!!!

It was $666.68.... so it rounds to $667.

Just talked to PP, they're taking the money back, no harm no foul. The "seller" of the item I supposedly bought responded to the claim and said the item was picked up in person, hence, no PayPal seller protection. I have a feeling this was the scam from the get-go... wish I had a way to institute an investigation on them IRL instead of just PP.

Eh, I'd return it just to avoid any unforeseen ramifications if any can apply.

Edit: Too late, but I would have done the same thing. They could have docked your account later for the amount of 515 Euros, which could have appreciated if the dollar weakens more.
